About the AI Seminar

In recent years, AI has been evolving at an astonishing pace, and we are entering an era in which making use of AI is simply taken for granted. At the same time, although there is an enormous gap between those who have only used chat-based AI such as ChatGPT and those who can make use of the latest AI technologies, the number of people who can actually do the latter remains very limited.

Given this situation, our lab has designated AI as a core technology and runs the AI Seminar so that members can make use of the latest AI technologies. At present, the following content is planned:

1. Fundamentals of AI
2. Building AI applications
3. Building AI agents
4. AI-assisted software development
5. Extending AI
6. Training AI

Note that the structure and content of the AI Seminar may change substantially in order to keep pace with the latest developments in AI technology. The AI Seminar is offered so that students can carry out AI-assisted research activities even when AI is not their research theme.

About the Technical Seminar

The Technical Seminar covers part of the introductory portion of the AI Seminar. Specifically, the following content is delivered over six class sessions:

1. Fundamentals of using generative AI
   • We begin with the basic knowledge of generative AI.
   • Through hands-on exercises, students learn the basics of building applications that use generative AI.
   • Students learn how to suppress hallucinations (cases in which generative AI produces false information).
2. Context engineering
   • Through exercises, students learn what parameters to give generative AI and how to instruct it so that it accomplishes a specific goal.
3. Workflow design
   • Students learn how to link multiple generative AI models together in order to build advanced AI applications.
4. Building AI agents 1
5. Building AI agents 2
   • Students learn how to build AI agents that act autonomously, based on a concrete theme.
6. Evaluating AI agents
   • Students evaluate the AI agents they have built.

These correspond to parts of items 1 to 3 of the AI Seminar. Because the Technical Seminar focuses on learning how to make use of generative AI, it uses low-code tools. In addition, so that even students who have only used chat-based AI such as ChatGPT can make use of generative AI, the exercises take the form of improving sample materials that are handed out.

As with the AI Seminar, the structure and content of the Technical Seminar may change substantially in order to keep pace with the latest developments in AI technology.
